Holding a hypothetical energy inventory
The project borrows dark-state polariton and stationary-light vocabulary to describe temporary energy storage before the reactor, often with an approximately 800 m buffer length.
Known effects vs. proposed extrapolation
In prepared atomic systems, EIT can map an optical excitation into matter coherence; optical microcavities can confer an effective two-dimensional photon mass. Neither effect proves an intrinsic Proca rest mass or passive storage in empty space.
What the working reports suggest
The source report combines a slow-light Fabry–Perot cavity, photon BEC language, and an EIT storage cage. It mixes cavity effective mass with the independent hypothesis that free photons possess intrinsic rest mass.
How material or energy would move
- Receive a controlled feed from magnetic compression.
- Provide measurable storage time, coherence and density limits.
- Release stored energy/material to the conversion core on demand.
The engineering uncertainty
Even if a laboratory analog works, scaling coherent storage to an 800 m spaceborne structure requires a specified atomic medium, optical depth, temperature, maintenance power and decoherence model.
What a rigorous test needs
Build a small controlled light-storage experiment with measured efficiency and lifetime; show separately which results depend on an optical cavity and which require intrinsic photon mass.
